BEN ANTHONY FUND

Be sure to look at the Ben Anthony Fund "Gallery" of pictures

This fund was established in the memory of Benjamin Anthony, whose parents come to Crested Butte in the summer and winter times from California.  Ben was taken care of by the staff & volunteers at both Six Points and Adaptive Sports when he was here.  The opportunities for fun and adventure brought joy to his life and of course his parents, too.  Unfortunately Ben died several years ago at the age of 27.

This fund is used exclusively to provide recreation opportunities for the developmentally disabled children & adults.

So far the Ben Anthony Memorial Fund has provided:

  • An opportunity for Six Points teams to attend Special Olympic Regional & State games in Grand Junction & Greeley for 3 days and 2 nights.
  • Costs for Colorado Adventure Sports Festival with students from Western State College.
  • St Patrick’s Day dances (Ben loved to dance!)
  • Canon digital camera to capture all the events!
  • Matching funds for purchase of three wheel bikes so individuals can be independent in their transportation to work and events.
  • Western State Adventure Days. Six Points clients were involved with the college students for numerous activities (Homecoming football game, farmers markets, etc)

It’s the goal of Wayne and Carolyn to keep this fund going.  And with your help we can do this!!

In Memory of Benjamin R. Anthony
May 25, 1978 – February 4, 2005

Oh, the places he’ll go…

Since Ben decided to go…

Off to his favorite swimming hole…

Or skiing without a pole…

He’ll laugh all day long…

While he sings his Buddy Holly song…

As he walks through the park…

Never again in the dark…

If you have five minutes to spare…

Take a look up there, if you dare…

It’s only a hunch…

But, I’ll bet he’s having lunch…

With this short story told…

Let’s all take hold…

In the memory of our friend…Ben…

We’ll all miss you so…

Oh, the places you’ll now go…
