Current Programs and Accomplishments
As of October 2009 Six Points serves fifteen (15) individuals, all of whom are in independent living situations. Of these, ten (10) are currently receiving Vocational Training in the Day Program. Eleven (11) of our individuals are gainfully employed at Six Points. Three (3) are completely and independently employed in the community and require no assistance with employment.
There are five (5) individuals in the Residential Support Program, and three (3) individuals are homeowners.
Ten (10) of our clients are in the Supported Living Services Program. Through grant funding and Six Point's support, four (4) individuals own their own businesses.
Six Points works with many organizations, such as the Housing Authority, Social Services, and Adaptive Sports to develop a network of supports and services to meet the needs of the individuals we serve. Six Points can also work with the local schools to prepare individuals with developmental disabilities for their transition into adulthood.
Who We Serve
Six Points currently serves developmentally disabled adults in the Gunnison and Hinsdale counties, although all of our individuals currently live in Gunnison County. Services are primarily provided in the communities of Gunnison and Mt. Crested Butte, although, assistance and services are provided for out of town appointments and trips as well.
Residential Program
Six Points currently serves 7 individuals in Residential Program. Individuals reside in their homes throughout the community. Assistance is provided as needed according to each individual and their unique need. Services include assessment, evaluation and training in financial management, domestic skills, social and recreational activities, accessing community services and transportation.
Six Points owns two properties - a duplex on 12th St purchased many years ago for needed accessible housing for individuals we were serving, because nothing satisfactory could be found in the rental market. Our other property is a trailer home which was donated to us by an anonimous gentleman last year. One individual in the Residential Program was able to purchase his own condo, and two individuals are living in a condo owned by parents.
Day or Vocational Program
The primary focus of Six Points Day Program (formerly called the Vocational Program) is to provide individuals with the opportunity to express their unique talents and interest through meaningful employment. Job coaches provide on-site training and assistance to the employee and employer, along on-going support services to insure a successful job.
Six Points also provides employment through the agency’s retail sales store and entrepreneurship endeavors. Four businesses are presently run by the adults in the program:

Supported Living Services Program
This program provides eligible individuals with services and supports to enhance their ability to access the community and to remain in living and employment situations that are least restrictive. In addition, the focus of SLS is to access a broad range of supports involved in a person’s life; which are available to help address a person’s needs such as family, work, social and community supports.
